A VFD matches motor speed and torque to the process demand. The result can be smoother control, lower mechanical stress and reduced energy use—especially in variable-torque applications such as pumps and fans.

Instead of running a motor at full speed and restricting the process mechanically, a VFD regulates frequency and voltage to deliver the speed and torque the application actually needs.
